Welcome to the First Presbyterian Church of Hanford!

Bible Bucks are Back!

Kids have the opportunity to earn Bible Bucks in Sunday School and in Powerhouse.
Here’s how they work... For all ages, Bible Bucks can be earned by:
~ Being on time to class
~ Bringing Bible
~ Showing respect to others
~ Memorize verse of the week
~ Chairs 4 on the floor
~ Class participation

Bible Memorization:
PreK/K: Memorize and learn the story of Creation.  What took place on Day 1, Day 2, so on.
Lower Elementary: Memorize The Ten Commandments and learn where they are found in the Bible.

Upper Elementary:  Memorize in order the Books of the Bible and learn how to spell Presbyterian.

  • Bible Bucks can be spent at the BIBLE BUCK BAZZAR opening on Sunday, March 16th! The Bible Bucks can also be “saved up” to “buy” bigger prizes.

  • Kids attending Sunday School and or Powerhouse 3 times in a row, will receive the Prize Of The Day.

  • The Treasure Chest  will be utilized during Young Explorers on Wednesdays.

Child Care Schedule

WORSHIP

Powerhouse

Children's church is held during the 10:30 a.m. worship service. There are a variety of things that take place during the half hour of Powerhouse: Music, prayer, and Bible stories, just to name a few. Powerhouse is for children from pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. Forth and Fifth graders are encouraged to stay with their parents in the sanctuary, but are always welcome. Powerhouse meets in the Power Station in room 302 (upstairs).

BIBLE LEARNING

Christian Education Hour

Christian Education Hour, a.k.a. Sunday School, takes place Sunday mornings from 9-10am. We use a variety of curriculum that covers the essentials for Spiritual formation in children. Classes are offered for children two years old - fifth grade, and meet in the classrooms upstairs (2 and 3 year-olds meet in the Toddler Room on the main floor.)

Our Sunday School classes sponsor a child (Pius Akena) from the African Children's Choir.

MID-WEEK FUN

Young Explorers

This Wednesday evening program is for children preschool - 5th grade. There is a small group experience for students to build their faith through Bible stories, scripture memory, singing, and games. Young Explorer meets in conjunction with our Body Life Program. The meeting place is located in the Power Station in room 302. We begin with a family dinner at 6:00pm (see Body Life for details), and then excuse the children to Music Madness at 6:25pm, and then Young Explorers at 6:45pm.

MINISTRY & FELLOWSHIP

God's Girls

What is God's Will for Young Girls? Girls in pre-K through 5th grade are welcome to attend. There is time for Scripture and Fellowship on Saturday mornings from 8:30 - 10:00am in the Powerhouse Room. The upcoming dates are: 9/13, 10/11, 11/8, 12/6. For more information about God's Girls, contact Gail Williams.

Stewardship & Mission

It is good for our kids to understand that some things we take for granted are only privileges in other areas of the world. K.F.C. sponsors a child from the African Children’s Choir.  Each month, $25 is sent to Pius Akena to help with his school supplies and other necessary items.  The children’s weekly offering is where this money comes from.  During Sunday School and Powerhouse,  kids have the opportunity to learn the meaning of Stewardship and Mission by giving to the K.F.C. offering.  Look for the small offering box your child will be given to collect a weekly offering.   Together we can teach the kids what Stewardship and Mission are all about.

SUMMER FUN

Krafty Kids Kamp

This is a summer day camp devoted to arts and crafts. It is a Bible based week long creative adventure for students Pre-K to 5th grade. Students will be given the opportunity to create fun arts and crafts projects. A small materials fee applies.

Vacation Bible School

This is a week long half-day Bible camp that meets during the summer from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for children Pre-K to 5th Grade. The V.B.S. theme for 2008 is Power Lab, and it will be held July 14th - 18th.

Mid-Week

Each summer we try to offer a variety of summer activities for the children. Whether it's an end of the summer swimming blowout or a Backyard Bible Club, we strive to offer a fun environment for your child to learn more about a loving God who wants to know them. Each summer is different so check out our newsletter, the First Press, or keep an eye on this web site for upcoming summer events.

PLAYTIME

Little Beginnings

This is a play group for mothers, fathers, and care givers of preschool age children. The group meets every Thursday from 10:00 - 11:30. This is an unstructured time of play for children and fellowship for the adults. Little Beginnings meets in the Toddler Room.

BECAUSE WE CARE

Child Care

We offer child care for babies in our nursery, and for children around the age of 2 in our Toddler Room. Child Care is offered every Sunday morning beginning at 8:45am in the nursery and toddler room. We also schedule child care during Body Life, Saturday Morning Bible Study, and other planned church activities.

Our staff includes paid personnel. Parents are asked to assist in the nursery or toddler room on a rotation basis. Red Cross certified youth also assist with child care.

Please do not bring your child to the child care facility with any of the following symptoms: coughing, sneezing due to colds, watery eyes, runny nose, questionable rashes. Remember, we want all of our children to remain healthy and happy. We will notify you, should any emergency arise.

KFC - Bible Town (A.K.A. Saturday Morning Child Care)

Kids, while your parents are at Saturday Morning Bible Study, join us in the Family Center (formerly the dance studio) for a trip through Bible Town! You will team up with other kids your age when you embark on your journey… School age kids will work with “Chief Inspector Dee” to solve mysteries, discover secret messages, and follow clues to find the treasures of Bible Town.  The toddlers will travel through stories in the Bible, singing songs and creating projects along the way.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Partners in ministry are always welcome!

Without parents and other volunteers, this ministry would not be possible. If you are interested in helping to bring the word of Jesus Christ to the blessed children of our Church, please contact Joanne Groves, Director of Children's Ministry, at 582-0283.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Christian Education Committee welcomes new members to their committee at any time. CE meets on the first Monday of the month in the church office at 6:00 p.m. The committee is responsible for planning, recruiting, and implementing classes for children, youth, and adults for the Sunday Christian Education Hour (Sunday School) and mid-week program (Body Life). The CE Committee works on a major church family-nuturing event annually. If interested and want more information, contact Joanne Groves at 582-0283.
