Tony Winterowd - Pastor
Pastor Tony comes to us from Horizon Community Church of Palmdale, California where he served as pastoral assistant and interim head of staff. Originally from Huntington Beach, CA, Tony received his Bachelor's degree in religion from USC, and his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Talbot School of Theology. Tony loves spending time with his wife Sheri and their two boys and daughter (Bryce, born 5/20/00, Braden born 10/13/03, Brooke, born 10/20/05) ; cheering for the USC Trojan football team; and playing tennis.
Joanne Groves - Children's Ministries
Joanne and her husband David have lived in Hanford for 13 years. They have two children, Emily 11 and Bradley 6; two dogs, Roxy & Shasta and 2 fish, Mickey and Minnie. Joanne has been involved with the Children's Ministry here at First Presbyterian Church for the past 7 years. Now on staff, with David's support, Joanne desires to offer a Children's Ministry that will bring the Word of Jesus Christ to the blessed children of this Church and throughout the community.
Martha Bently - Senior Adult Ministries
A longtime member of the church, Martha is a retired teacher who has found a rewarding second career as Director of Senior Adult Ministries, working with senior groups as well as visiting and loving our seniors. She enjoys spending time with her three grown sons, their wives and her eight grandchildren, all of whom live in Hanford. A local history buff, Martha can often be found researching or leading tours of Hanford's Taoist Temple or Kings County Museum.
Jane Mankey - Music Ministries
Jane Mankey,was born and raised in Hanford California. She grew up attending First Presbyterian church in Hanford and sang in the youth and chancel choirs. Wes Nichols, directed her in choir at Hanford High. Art and Shirley Ramm, were just a few of her early mentors to lead her down a life of faith during the youth program. In elementary school,she began her life-long passion of playing the flute and Dorothy Nichols, gave her piano lessons. Ten years ago, Jane and her husband of 21 years, Neal, and their four children; Ian, Nelson, Nicholas, and Emilie, moved to Hanford. Jane, is a 5th grade teacher at Kit Carson School, as well as the choir and band director. She feels very blessed to have two musical families; one at home, the other at church.
Sharon Liggett - Office Manager
Sharon is our office manager. She has two grown children who are married. One granddaughter, 3 step granddaughters. She loves to cook, read. She is also a Oakland Raiders fan. She is involved in the church teaching Sunday School and attends the Single Friends fellowship group events.
Janice Mills - Organist / Piano
Janice is a fabulous organist/pianist. Besides for playing for us each Sunday, she also maintains a very busy piano studio.
Kevin McCarty - Media Ministry
Kevin grew up in the nearby town of Dinuba, graduating in 1973. After spending five years in the US Air Force, he returned to the local community college where he met his beautiful wife, Sheryl. They have three adult children: Scott, Jennifer and Josh and one grandchild, Sienna. Kevin enjoys the challenge of maintaining the sound, projection and video systems and is always searching for ways to improve and better serve the congregation. He sings with the Praise Team while running the show in the background. Kevin enjoys reading, puttering around the house and RVing and is always ready to take off when an opportunity arises. Kevin and Sheryl have both been involved with youth ministries through the years and active in the local Walk To Emmaus ministry.
Gary England - Custodian
Well, I've been the church custodian for four years now and have really grown to love everyone here at 1st Pres. I can't say enough about the dedication these people have for God and for serving others, but enough about them. I was born in Texas where most my family still resides, moved to California when I was a child, I have been married for six years to my high school sweetheart and we have three beautiful daughters. If I can lend a hand please feel free to ask.
